I would like to start my very last captain’s log by saying what a brilliant time I’ve had. None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the much needed help that I’ve received throughout my year.
To Emma, Dave and the bar staff, yet again they excelled themselves especially for my 40th birthday bash. It was a day, night and early morning to remember.
To Dave and the greens staff when most golf clubs in the county were closed on average for 60 days this year, Seaham was closed for less than 20 and considering the amount of rain we’ve had, its been a monumental effort so thanks lads.
To Terry, Michael and Kay, no matter what you ask of them they do it with a smile.
To the many committee members in the club, I can’t thank you enough for all the backing you have given me whether it was getting up at 5:30am to prepare for an open day event, or trying to keep a disgruntled member happy when they think their handicap is wrong. We also have to remember these people give up their spare time for free.
Finally, it only feels like yesterday that this man was picking me up at 10:30am on new years day morning. I said in my first captains log that he never left my side all day, well I can add to that now. I can honestly say he’s never left my side all year. Whenever I thought I had a problem to sort and became a bit irate, I’d get this big hand on my shoulder and he’d say "problem? what problem? there is no problem!", and you know, he was right! There were never any problems. So my biggest thanks goes to P.P. I always saw it as a good partnership rather than a captain and his vice. Cheers mate.
Regards,
THE CAPTAIN
