Bishop Auckland v SEAHAM, 6th September, Clarke Cup, Won 3-2

At the third attempt at trying to win this prestigious tournament, Team Seaham having twice lost to Bishop Auckland in past years, defeated their very strong side.

A great end to the seasob after escaping relegation.

Special thanks to the many supporters who travelled to the game and gave great encouragement to the players and caddies.

SEAHAM v Brancepeth, 16th August, Clarke Cup, Won 3-2

After securing First Division status for next season, Team Seaham, with no pressure to bear, defeated a very strong Brancepeth side to progress to the final of the Clarke Cup.

A tremendous game involving Spencer Craig in which he was two down, then three up, and managing to win the last hole to secure his win was the star performance.

Another great win by Grant Dixon who birdied the last to win his game and the match.

Great Support was given to the team and the same or more would be welcomed in the final at South Shields on September 6th against Bishop Auckland.

SEAHAM v Wearside, 4th August, Won 10-4

First Division golf was guaranteed for next season with a fine victory gaining the ten points that were required to stay upand thus relegating our opponents.

Sterling performances by the team when things did not look too good in four games, won through for Team Seaham.
All players excelled but great comebacks from three down to win by Gareth Williamson, two down and gaining halves by Sam Pearson and Alan Williams, plus the wins, saved the day.

In a too and fro exciting quarter final, Team Seaham progressed to the last four in a very close encounter. Dave Patterson and Grant Dixon put the home side two up but the visitors fought back strongly.

Alan Williams could have won on the 2nd extra hole but just fell short, leaving it to Steve Marratty to come from behind and win 16, 17, and halve 18.

SEAHAM v Heworth, 30th June, Drew 7-7

Not entirely a good result but a welcome seven points. Probably our strongest side against a title chasing Heworth.

Team Seaham's players fought very hard, as Dave Patterson scrambled a good half after being dormy two down, with two excellant wins by back in form Kevin Booth and Spencer Craig, plus a fine performance by 'lost son' Grant Dixon tied up the 7 points.

SEAHAM v Washington, 29th June, Clark Cup, Won 4-1

Progress was made into the quarter final of the Clark Cup when the first three players out for Team Seaham all won their games.

A welcome back to Grant Dixon, a little rusty but a great assett with hard games to come, and a good performance in a see-saw match saw Spencer Craig win after being two down for much of it. (A visit to his shrink working wonders beforehand!)

South Moor v SEAHAM, 23rd June, Lost 13-1

Alarm bells are ringing, although no panic buttons are being pressed yet after a heavy defeat by probable champions South Moor.

An uncharacteristic two defeats in a row by Dave Patterson resulted in defeats for all of the team except for Kevin Shaw Jnr who gained a point in very controversial circumstances.
Kevin being one down near the 18th green, where his opponent played Kevin's ball, resulted in a loss of the hole and gaining a point for Team Seaham.
His opponent displayed great displeasure and refused to shake hands and acted in a manner unbecoming of a team member on a golf course. South Moor's captain very sportingly informed Team Seaham's player that he had done no wrong. (Just goes to show you should always go to specsavers!)

Wearside v SEAHAM, 16th June, Lost 9-5

SEAHAM v South Shields, 9th June, Win 9-5

Another depleted side did very well to defeat South Shields.
Injuries and work commitments forced skipper Price to shuffle his team but welcomed back Sam Pearson and ex Shields player Dave Sharkey.

Dave Patterson starred in a convincing victory.

Seaton Carew v SEAHAM, 29th May, Clark Cup, Won 3 1/2 - 1 1/2

Team Seaham bounced back from a heavy defeat at Whickham to claim a memorable cup victory away at links course Seaton Carew.

Dave Patterson and Alan Williams put us in a good position winning the opening games.
Spencer Craig lost his match at the first extra hole, leaving the game in a tight situation with Gareth Williamson also having to go up the opening hole again.
Kevin Booth won on the 18th, halving his game, so he was also destined to go up the first, when Gareth returned with the victory that won the match.

Whickham v SEAHAM, 26th May, Lost 11-3

Team Seaham came to earth with a bump last night with a heavy defeat at last seaons champions Whickham.
3 decisive losses to S. Craig, K. Shaw Jnr, and I. Rooney left the away side with a mountain to climb.

Victory came from Gareth Williamson who gained the only win on the night.
Contoversy emerged in Dave Pattersons game, being 1 up on the last, Dave put his ball into a ditch (hazard), very near a bell, and thus restricting his back swing. No ruling was forthcoming so Dave sportingly took a penalty, which resulted in him havling the hole and the game.
What the hell a bell is doing in a hazard is beyond me. This seems only to court trouble; maybe he should have had a free drop or a drop away from the bell, but still in the hazard? Nothing was made clear but there is no sour grapes on this issue.

SEAHAM v Washington, 19th May, Won 10-4

An excellent 10-4 victory to newly promoted Washington keeps Team Seaham on course to their good start to the season.
Alan Plant stood in for the injured Sam Pearson and claimed a credible half, while Kevin Sham Jnr replaced unavailable Gareth Williamson and trounced his opponent 4 and 3.
Steve Marratty also dished out a thrashing to maintain his great form. Spencer Craig showed great resolve at being 2 down dormy to secure a very good half.

Heworth v SEAHAM, 12th May, Lost 8-6

After a credible 7-7 result at home to South Moor on the first day of the season, Team Seaham travelled to Heworth. Picking up 6 points in an 8-6 defeat was very acceptable against a side that will be pushing for the title.

Two wins in the game came from in form Steve Marratty and in a see-saw game that Spencer Craig played in being one down at sixteen winning the hole, halving seventeen, then winning eighteen, showed first class golf.
