Played in the invitation on 16th August with two old marra's, Cllr Bob Arthur and his long suffering 'best mate' George Newton. Thoroughly enjoyed the course even though it was very wet but the 'crack' in the club house afterwards was the best part of the day. All the best for your centenary year in 2009.

Just want to let you know how happy i am on the way the course is looking. It gets better year after year. Well done to the greenstaff, Dave, Kevin, Graham, & Brian for all the hard work they put in.

Played your course as a visitor a few weeks ago. I received a very warm welcome from your lady captain and club members. Lovely course to play - even enjoyed the hilly bits! Will definately be back.

Joining Seaham golf club was the cleverest thing i done. I went round in 89 shots thats with my handicap taken off.

Can I just say hard lines for going so close to winning the league and then not! I really hope the lads can survive with the quality of the first division. Go Seaham!

In Summer 2007 the course was looking the best i've ever seen it! Keep up the good work greenkeepers your doing great! And heard about the new swipe cards, good idea.

Course is ok at the minute. Members fees have gone up due to the fact of the new watering system; why they are not using it is a joke! The best the greens have been this year is when we had couple of weeks of monsoon. People protecting their handicap is getting ridiculous! Pick the comp you want to win and don't put your card in for two months previous. You've got a better chance of winning then!

Who is Billy Joe Armstrong? Credit must go to Dave Sharkey and his team for the condition of the golf course, which i agree is a credit to them and has been a pleasure to play golf on, this year as in previous.

Thank you for the stroll down memory lane.
Great website, with superlative stats on competitions.
If anyone remembers me, I was that poor looking left hander with a suspect swing (never seen a good one yet). I'm afraid work and kids don't permit too much golf these days. I'm a member at Northumberland G.C. - laughable handicap of 4. If any of the old school fancy a game please give me a shout. Played once last year and once this year at Turnberry of all places. Memories of texas scramble with J Foots, Bob Quinn jnr (god rest his soul) and a.n.other (Andrew?). If you want to topple Birtley, get John (Eamon Darcy) Foots back in the team - magnificient matchplayer and Tony Cox!

Regards to all
Yours in sport
Jamie McCabe

Congratulations to our team for an excellent win at the Ramside.

Does anyone else think the 16th is getting beyond a joke? If you dont hit the top tier & miss left it bounces into the ditch and hitting it right you have the same problem - it bounces down the bank and goes out of bounds or into the winnie bushes!

I was privilaged to have lunch at your clubhouse in August 2006 as a guest of Tommy and Muriel Wilson. I just wanted to say the meal was great and the few people we met there were very friendly and welcoming. Would love to do it again sometime.

Played the course. Excellent nick.

Its good to see all the work going on round the course at the moment with the re-shaping of bunkers and replacing of fencing.
I predict the course will be in excellent condition come April/May as it has been for the last 8 years.

For those doubters out there try playing elsewhere and you will realise how lucky we are to have a course in such good condition

Well done to Dave Sharkey and team for keeping the course in a near perfect condition throughout the winter months, and the new additions to the course (trees and bunker work). Looking forward to playing off the grass tees.

I caddied for Mr a a Wilson in 1948-50 when Jacky Sanderson was pro. I helped him to open the top 10 holes after the war he's mate was a bloke called morley i think he was part of the bakery family. By the way, I got half a crown a round and you had to give sixpence back as green fees. Was left with ten pee in todays money. Cheers, happy days.
